Willow Terrace Polymer Injection Project Scheduled

10/12/2017
Houston, TX - Beginning on Friday, October 13 the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department (PWE) is scheduled to conduct concrete maintenance work between the 1800 and 2100 block of Willow Terrace. The goal of this effort is to preserve and prolong the life of the road base while providing a smoother riding surface.

Crews will work between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday until the project's expected completion on Friday, October 20, weather permitting. The repairs will begin at the 1800-2100 block of Willow Terrace in the northbound esplanade lane. The northbound gutter lane will be open for travel. After the gutter lane repairs have been made the northbound gutter lane will be closed and traffic will flow in the northbound esplanade lane.

During the project drivers should expect intermittent delays in the area. To ensure driver and worker safety, traffic control measures will be in place on site including traffic barrels, traffic cones, directional signage and flagmen. The District E office has also contacted the Houston Police Department's Kingwood substation to ask that officers can monitor the location and provide assistance with traffic control as needed.

Public Works and Engineering will be using a polymer-injection procedure to complete these repairs which is effective on pavement that has subsided or that has experienced some degree of faulting. These injections fill voids in the subgrade and can lift panels to their original heights. Additional maintenance procedures may also include small repairs with asphalt.

For more information on the upcoming Willow Terrace polymer injection project, please contact the District E office at (832) 393-3008 or via email at districte@houstontx.gov.
